Creosote Oil
Creosote is most notably useful for its preservative properties and can be used to prevent against rot and decay. Creosote oil is a by-product of coking coal production, a process vital to the production of steel and has been used for centuries to protect and preserve wood. Creosote is mainly used for timber preservation.
Creosote oil is a complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained by the distillation of wood tar. The properties of this oil waterproofs and protects wood against most forms of insects and bacteria that would otherwise destroy the material.
Due to restrictions in its use this product is no longer available for domestic and garden use. We only provide the Creosote Oil in industrial size 20 Litre drums.
Our fence black , a blend of Sceneys old fashioned weatherproof oil and bituminous black, is an easier and safer to handle option for domestic and garden applications. Our clear decking oil is another option to consider for outdoor use.
